Made from beech, it would have been used originally to hold rice or other foods. A brass hoop supports the container at the top and bottom and the circular top is decorated with a simple scrolling pattern in carved relief. The little handle on top of the lid is carved in the form of a Foo Dog. Also known as a temple lion, these mythical beasts were mythical
